Our Vision and Values
Christian values are deeply embedded within the life of the school and have a profound influence on relationships, attitudes and behaviour. (SIAMS 2016)
Our Christian Vision is at the core of everything we do.
Our Christian Vision
Learning Together, Following Jesus
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will have the light of life.”
John 8:12
Jesus is the light we follow to provide our children with as many opportunities as possible for a positive future.Through living out our Christian Values, we grow as a strong community. We have high aspirations for both ourselves and the children and believe in being committed to the development of every child at our school, demonstrating love and respect daily.
Our Values
We have twelve core values which are embedded in the life and work of the school and the community.
They are: Thankfulness, Trust, Perseverance, Justice, Service, Truthfulness, Generosity, Compassion, Courage, Forgiveness, Friendship and Respect.
We focus on one value each half term over a two-year cycle.
These are our values for 2024 to 2025:
We are thankful for the uniqueness of every individual member of our school and the gifts that we all bring and share to enrich our corporate life. We foster an attitude of thankfulness and respect for nature.
“Jesus broke bread and gave thanks.” (Luke 22:19)
Trust is the very essence of our faith. It is the glue that holds our relationship together. We encourage children to reflect upon why trust is so crucial in building relationships and what the consequences might be when it is broken.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me.” (John 14:1)
We value and celebrate perseverance, encouraging one another consistently to take one step at a time to achieve our goals. We encourage self-belief in order to keep on going and reflect upon God's persevering love.
“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us that is before us.” (Hebrews 12:1)
We want what is right and fair. Justice is more than just making things fair. We show children that in order for our school community to live in harmony, it is important to have rules and laws that everyone follows.
“What does the Lord require of you? To do justice, love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:9)
Reflecting Jesus' servanthood, we are called to service one another in our homes, our families, our school and wider community. We encourage children to seek the common good in all that they do, striving to put the needs of others before our own.
“The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:26)
Jesus came to show us truth. Truth affects every part of our lives. We speak the truth in love, and we always try to combine truthfulness with kindness so that we encourage each other and build one another up.
“Speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the Head that is, Christ.” (Ephesians 4:15)
