Global Neighbours Award

Global Neighbours Award

At The Beacon we are fully committed to global citizenship. We are passionate about educating all pupils and the wider community about the importance of active involvement in global citizenship.

The Beacon has previously been awarded the Bronze Award and Silver Award and we are now working towards the Gold Award which involves a committed participation in active global citizenship across different curriculum areas and pupils have a greater understanding and participation in Courageous Advocacy. Through our PLT groups, our pupils are involved in making decisions and planning activities using their own initiative.

Global topics are interwoven across the school in different subjects as Science, History and Geography. For example in the Spring term EYFS our children learn about recycling and taking care of our world. In Key Stage 1 pupils learn about habitats around the world and in Key Stage 2 children learn about the environment, air pollution, water conservation and deforestation.
