Every Tuesday afternoon, Mr Simpson is in RA.
Important reminders
Water bottles
Please ensure your child brings a water bottle labelled with their name to school every day.
Uniform
- Please ensure all of your child's uniform has their name in it. If anything goes missing, it is very difficult to find it if it does not have a name in.
- In EYFS we love learning outside, even if it's wet! Please bring to school a pair of wellies, which are clearly labelled with your child's name.
- We ask that you bring in spare clothes for your child so that we can keep all children clean and dry.
PE
We have PE weekly on a Tuesday. Children are welcome to come to school wearing their PE kit every Tuesday instead of getting changed in class. Please ensure all children are wearing school PE kit and not their own clothes.
Tapestry Online Learning Journal
Here at the Beacon we have subscribed to a fantastic online learning journal that gives you the opportunity to see what adventures your child has been up to during their day at school from a computer or mobile device. By logging on with a secure username and password you will be able to view all of your children’s observations, photographs and even video clips from their time in school. You can also contribute by commenting on your child’s learning and sharing your own observations and wow moments with us so we can build a better picture of your child.
Please ask a member of the team for more information - We are always happy to help.

Homework
Homework will be set on Tapestry each Friday. Children will need to complete this by the following Tuesday.
Reading
Reading is a very important aspect of learning not just in the Early Years Foundation Stage, but right throughout the children's school journey. All children will have the opportunity to choose a book to take home each week and we actively encourage you to read with your child each night. Reading books will be changed every Thursday, as well as monitoring reading records. We encourage all children to read at least five nights per week to gain a reading sticker and progress along the class reading rainbow as part of our reading reward scheme.
Reception children take part in daily Read Write Inc lessons each day to support their phonetic knowledge and reading development.
In EYFS, we also use Tales Toolkit resources to help us create lots of lovely stories. This supports the children’s imagination and creativity as well as developing their knowledge of lovely, rich story telling language.
We also read our Beacon Book Spine continually in class, developing children’s love of reading and imagination.
Please feel free to come and speak to any of us at the end of the day with any queries.
Thank you.
Miss Austin
