Y6 - S 2024 - 2025
Miss Steen
Welcome to Year 6S
Here you will find all important information you need as well as the knowledge organisers to support learning.
Teachers
The Year 6S class teacher is Miss Steen, with the class being split into groups for both Maths and English.
Maths will be taught by Miss Steen, Mr Blundell, Mrs Cranney and Mr Davies.
English will be taught by Miss Ball, Miss Walker, Mrs Shepherd and Miss Trouton.
PE and Swmming
For Autumn 1, 6S will have PE on Friday afternoons when we will have Invasion Games. On this day, your child may wear their PE kit to come to school. Kits must be in accordance with school our uniform. Please label PE kits and water bottles to prevent items getting lost.
We will also be swimming each week on a Monday. Please ensure children come to school with a full swimming kit, including a swimming cap on this day.
Homework
Homework books with a retrieval task relating to a recent learning topic will be distributed each Friday and should be completed and returned by Tuesday.
Maths homework will be set via MyMaths. https://www.mymaths.co.uk/
Spelling homework will be set via Spelling Shed. https://www.edshed.com/en-gb/login/school
Timestable practice: https://play.ttrockstars.com/auth/school/student/18591
If homework has not been set in the Homework Book, please check SeeSaw as an alternative task may have been assigned. All other learning communications and updates will also be posted on SeeSaw: https://app.seesaw.me/#/student/login
Remember, 3 Dojos are awarded for each completed homework!
Reading
Please send reading bags into school every day so we can ensure your child has an appropriate book to support their comprehension and fluency.
We encourage reading every night to support your child’s learning. When your child reads, record and sign this in their reading record. A reading reward sticker will be given to every child that has read at least five nights every week for 10 minutes. Reading records are monitored on Fridays. Pupils are invited to complete an Accelerated Reader Quiz each time they finish a book. As well as physical books borrowed from school pupils can log in to the Liverpool Library (free to register: https://liverpool.overdrive.com/library/kids) to read a selection of E-Books from home.
Your support with reading is greatly appreciated!
If you have any questions about any aspect of your child’s learning, please don’t hesitate to ask me at the end of the school day.
Thank you,
Miss Steen
