Welcome to Year 1DM
Your Year 1DM class teachers are Miss Mooney and Miss Duffy.
We have lots of very exciting learning opportunities planned throughout the year.
Here you will be able to read and find out about all of the different things that we get up to in Year 1.
PE
Y1DM's PE day is a Friday. Your child can come to school dressed in their Beacon PE kit on a Friday for PE to make undressing and dressing easier for them.
Your child will need their own labelled water bottle in school each day as well.
Swimming
Year 1 are going swimming during the summer term and we are very excited!
Our swimming day is a Monday and it will start after the Easter Holidays.
Please come to school with your swimming kit in a bag. This should contain a swimming costume (not a two peice set) or swimming trunks (they must be tight to your child's skin not swimming shorts), a towel to dry themsleves with and ALL children must have a swimming cap. If your child wears earrings they need to be taken out for their swimming lesson.
Homework
Homework will be set on MyMaths and Seesaw each Friday. Children will need to complete this by the following Tuesday.
Reading
Reading is a very important aspect of learning not just in Year 1, but right throughout the children's school journey. We actively encourage you to read every night with your child. In order for your child to gain reading rewards you need to read with them 5/7 nights and sign and date their reading record.
Year 1 complete a daily 1 hour Read Write Inc lesson to support children with their phonics and reading.
