Philosophy for Children (P4C)

Philosophy for Children (P4C) is a teaching and learning approach based on enquiry which allows pupils to develop their own philsophical questions. Children can develop a range of thinking skills and learn effective communication particularly finding the right way to disagree with others.  P4C has no right or wrong answer but gives us all a chance to share what we think based on a stimulus (a video, story, piece art etc).  At The Beacon we use P4C across all areas of the curriculum.

Each week one class share their question of the week to involve the whole school community.

In our P4C sessions we use a range of stimuli to get children thinking about concepts or big ideas. We then use these to create a question. Here are some of the resources that we have enjoyed using so far, you could explore these at home to practise your thinking skills.
