Brushing our Teeth

Reception Class children have the opportunity to take part in a daily teeth-brushing initiative led by Liverpool's Dental Health Team. All toothbrushes and toothpaste are provided. Children each have their own tooth brush stored on a "Toothbrush Bus". They brush their teeth every day  after eating lunch.

This important initiative happens in Reception Class because it is the time when most children start to get their adult teeth. Did you know

  • using a fluoride toothpaste make your teeth stronger
  • you need to brush your teeth for 2 minutes
  • you don't need to wet your brush or rinse your mouth afterwards as it stops fluoride from being absorbed
  • you should brush your tongue a few times too
  • you should renew your toothbrush every 3 months

If you haven't already signed your child up for this scheme it is not too late- we have brushes for everyone! Please see a Reception member of staff for a permission form.
