RA (Reception) 2017 - 2018

Mrs Armstrong

Welcome to Reception RA's Class Page!

Our class teacher is Mrs Armstrong and our teaching assistants are Miss Carson (morning) and Mrs Higham (afternoon). We also work closely with Reception RT class so we often work with Miss Traverse and Mrs McGinn aswell.

Here you will be able to find out lots of important information about our Reception class and you will also be able to see photographs of our learning in school.

We have all settled into our new class so well, we have been busy making new friends and playing with lots of lovely things at school.

Important Information:

Uniform:
Please ensure all of your child's uniform has their name in it. If anything goes missing, it is very difficult to find it if it does not have a name in.

Homework

  • Homework is given out on Fridays and is due in the following Tuesday. Your child will be given two pieces of homework:
One activity in their home school diary - this will link to what we have been learning in Reception during the week and will often link to our 'story of the week'.
One phonics activity in their phonics homework book - this activity will help your child to consolidate their learning of letters and sounds and will always link to the sounds we have been learning that week.
  • Bedtime books will be changed every Friday. These stories are for you to enjoy with your child and help us to develop a love of reading. We ask that you return the bedtime book the following week for someone new to enjoy. Your child will then be given a new book.
  • Reading books will be changed every Friday. Your child will be given two reading books every Friday to take home. Please take the time to read the books with your child throughout the week as this will support their progress and development. If your child reads every night, they will recieve a special sticker and this will count towards certificates and awards!

Swimming

  • Swimming will take place on Monday afternoons. Your child will need a swimming kit with a towel, swimming costume/trunks (tight trunks and full suits please) and a swimming hat.
RA class will be swimming Autumn Term.

Tapestry Online Learning Journal

Here at the Beacon, we have subscribed to a fantastic online learning journal that gives you the opportunity to see what adventures your child has been up to during their day at school from a computer or mobile device. By logging on with a secure username and password you will be able to view all of your child's observations, photographs and even video clips from their time in Reception. You can also contribute by commenting on your child's learning and sharing your own observations and WOW moments with us so we can build a better picture of your child.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us! We are always happy to help and we are available at the beginning and the end of each day.
